Somehow everyone knows already. (I have just read the announcement on twitter.)
In addition to the previously released Static Art Sebastian and Ciel, we will have a new version this time.
It’s called “Static Art Ciel Robin Ver.”
So you know it’s going to be Ciel in that dress!!!!!!!!
It has finally come to this… Robin Ciel…
You can take a look at the picture here:
http://www.amiami.jp/shop/ProductInfo/product_id/173157
This is not Square Enix’s website but the mail-order company amiami’s HP. Please don’t enquire about the specs.
(They have a lot of photos so you can take a look. You can also order it from amazon or other retailers whichever that’s convenient for you. I think SE Shop will have it for sale too.)
(I have not been told the details regarding distribution methods so I can’t tell you about that. Sorry.)
Anyway when I was first told about it,
“Although I’m drawing this type of manga, actually I have quite a collection of bishoujo figures. From high quality figures such as アル●ーさん, グッス●さん to the Queen's Blade series, I do have an eye for bishoujo (in fact male) figure. Is that all right?”
Despite my initial intention to turn them down, SE decided to do it my way, so I jumped at it.
The prototype looked even more delicately cute than the picture. So for those who love Ciel, or like cross-dressing boys, or simply think this girl is cute as you can’t tell the difference anyway, this figure will make a nice piece for display at home.
The quality is so good I’d like to deliver it to Druitt!
Last time I drew Ciel’s dress sketch, this time I did the pose sketch too.
The inside story will be included in postscript.
If you don’t mind the topic of Bishoujo Figures (although Ciel’s a boy) please read on.
Although I have got to decide the pose,
[Picture here]
It was difficult.
Since it’s a bishoujo (in fact male) figure, in order to make it more sexually appealing it has one foot bare. (lol)
I think a bishoujo (in fact male) looks good like this with white petticoat + bare foot.
Considering the English background, a point worthy of note is the ankle. At that time the ankle was supposed to be sexier than breasts.
The next will be teeth. (too obsessive)slightly open mouth.
Since the first time I saw the prototype I think we had gone through 5 revisions? (Hey)
“There must be lots of frills. To the level the waist being buried under fluttering frills.”
“The lace of the petticoat is the most important point so please make it very detailed. The lace pattern of the bra and pants is important for a bishoujo figure. Guze [??] pants are not adorable.”
“The long hair hanging down to the floor should be soft, soft hair, like a cat!”
“The petticoat should appear like soft chiffon material that you can see through.”
“The nose and feet must be cute and tiny.”
“Cute lingerie (that you can see if look from below)”
“Lots of frills, fluttering frills (repeating)”
And again once reached the painting stage,
“The eyes must be big and the mood being ayaya please.”
“Please use orange clear gloss varnish for the lips. Don’t use pink! He’s only 12!”
“Can you slightly brush the eyes with pink?”
“Thicker lower eyelashes”
“Please use elegant slightly toned-down pink for the dress. But not too plain.”
“The unbleached colour please brush gently not too yellow not too white”
“And light colour with a tint of pink for the petticoat”
We discussed all the trivial details I even went as far as to specify the DIC.
I guess the SE staff must be thinking “Sebastian and Ciel’s male figures were ok in one go. So what’s going on here, is this author ill?”…
That’s not the case.
It’s not like I don’t care about the male figures, it’s because SE’s did a brilliant job on the male figures right from the start!
Sebastian’s face the features are very sharp it’s fascinating.
The idea is completely different between female figures and male figures!
For male figures the clean-cut features and sharp lines are important whilst for a bishoujo figure it has to be absolutely delicate and fluffy! You get the idea…! (Crash)
I’m normal right! I’m surely not ill right!?
However, after going through the hell of supervision procedures, when I received the spec documents from SE in which they said “we will use clear material for the stand”, I’m moved “these guys, they mean business”.
I have this feeling that there’s something amiss but we are doing our best.
You can see it from below without having to take off the stand, isn’t that dreamy? (now everyone knows I often remove the stand of female figures)
Kuroshitsuji will be entering its 4th year in the coming month. I never thought the robin (note: cross-dressing boy) that merely appeared in about 20 pages would one day turn into a figure.
Besides it’s coming from that “speaking of stylish, that’s me”? stylish company Square Enix, who has created all those stylish figures including FF, DQ, Bakabon, MGS, ディ●ニー.
Nah, no one could have imagined.
I couldn’t either.
To think we will have a cross-dressing figure from Square Enix... (it’s too shocking I’m repeating myself)
To see the day coming with a cross-dressing figure being placed in the stylish Square Enix Shop (Sephiroth is there too☆), it’s like a dream. www
Somehow I’m feeling guilty but I’m definitely more pleased!
Thank you very much Square Enix!
We did go through all the fuss, the prototype designer also worked very hard. Please shower the robin with your love, the phantom robin that lasted for one night only in the manga!
To place the Robin and Earl Ciel side by side, the scene gives a faint yet unsettling sense of guilt and corruption. It will make a great display so please order both figures together.
The prototype looks wonderful. I hope they will get it right on the production line so the final product will be of correct colour and smooth edge without parting lines.
I’m looking forward to the released version!
Can’t wait to bring him home!
